The New York City area weather forecast for Tuesday, Feb. 2, calls for continued blizzard conditions and attendant disruptions to vehicle traffic and mass transit through most of the day. Therefore, all campuses of Fordham University will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Tuesday, Feb. 2:

  • Please exercise caution while walking on campus, especially around trees, as wind and ice/snow loads may weaken limbs.
  • No in-person classes will be held on campus. Students should look for messaging directly from their instructors regarding online instruction during snow days.
  • Staff and administrators who are able to work remotely should plan on doing so—staff who are uncertain about their status should check with their managers.
  • Essential on-campus staff should check with their managers for instructions.
  • Community at Lincoln Center and Marketplace at Rose Hill will open as scheduled, but some other venues may open late or close early dependent upon demand and staff availability.
  • University Health Services offices will offer tele-appointments only at both campuses.
  • Counseling and Psychological Services will be open for in-person services at Lincoln Center only—CPS will offer tele-appointments for both campuses.
  • The COVID-19 testing tent at Rose Hill and the testing site at Lincoln Center will remain closed Tuesday.
  • Walsh and Quinn Libraries will be open as study spaces only from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.; the Law Library will be closed, but the Law School will provide classroom study space for those who request it.
  • Ramfit at Rose Hill will be open on its normal schedule. Use the IMLeagues app

At noon today, Monday, Feb. 1, Governor Cuomo declared a state of emergency for New York City, Long Island and the northern suburbs. Citing the rate of snowfall and the inability of snowplows to keep up with the accumulation, the governor predicted New York City aboveground subway lines shutting down, road closures on major thoroughfares, and suspension of Long Island Rail Road, PATH, and Metro-North service before evening.

The University strongly recommends that anyone on-campus who is not considered essential to campus operations by their managers should return home as soon as possible.

The National Weather Service is predicting up to 18 inches of snow and high winds in the New York City area from Sunday night through Tuesday morning, Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. All campuses of Fordham University will be closed on Monday, Feb. 1.

Monday, Feb. 1:

  • No in-person classes will be held on campus. Students should look for messaging directly from their instructors regarding online instruction during snow days;
  • Staff and administrators who are able to work remotely should plan on doing so—staff who are uncertain about their status should check with their managers;
  • Staff who normally have in-person responsibilities should expect to report to campus or check with their managers;
  • Dining service venues will open as scheduled, but some venues may close early dependent upon demand and staff availability;

  • Walsh and Quinn Libraries will be open as study spaces only from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.; the Law Library will be closed, but the Law School will provide classroom study space for those who request it;
  • Ramfit at Rose Hill will be open on its normal schedule—the fitness center at Lincoln Center will be closed;
  • Ram Van service will end on Sunday night, with the last van departing from Lincoln Center at 7 p.m., and service will resume on Tuesday, at a time to be determined.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting snow and severe winter weather for the New York City area beginning Wednesday, December 16, and extending through Thursday, December 17. All personnel are asked to be prepared for heavy snowfall and to use extreme caution during the storm. Based upon the NWS forecast, Fordham will make the following changes to on-campus operations:

  • Since classes and examinations are currently being held remotely, the storm will not affect their scheduling.
  • COVID-19 testing on Wednesday, December 16, will be limited to the hours between 10 a.m. and Noon at both the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses.
  • While there is no indoor dining permitted in New York City, the Rose Hill Marketplace is open for takeout orders between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. for breakfast; 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch; and 5 to 7:30 p.m. for dinner; and for pre-packaged grab-and-go service between 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • The Westchester campus and Calder Center will be closed on Wednesday, December 16, and Thursday, December 17.
  • Fordham University Libraries at both the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses will operate between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Wednesday, December 16, through Friday December 18. The Law Library will be open until 11 p.m. on Wednesday, will not be open on Thursday, and will reopen on Friday at 8 a.m.
  • Ram Vans between Rose Hill and Lincoln Center will operate on reduced schedules between 7 a.m. and Noon on Wednesday, December 16; service will be suspended at Noon and will not resume until Friday, December 18, at 7 a.m.
  • Public Safety will continue the late-night van service from the Bathgate entrance of the Rose Hill campus between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night unless road conditions preclude doing so.
  • RAM Fit at the Rose Hill McGinley Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday; and on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • No vehicles may be parked on campus roadways to permit Facilities personnel to clear roadways and paths.

Ran Van service will end at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill, and 4 p.m. at Lincoln Center, and will resume at 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Due to continued precipitation and freezing temperatures, all evening classes are cancelled for the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses today, Tuesday, February 12.
Ram Van service will remain suspended until 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
The University will resume normal operations on Wednesday, February 13.
The Men’s Basketball game against Davidson College in the Rose Hill Gymnasium will go on at 7 p.m. this evening, as scheduled.

Due to impending severe winter weather and poor travel conditions, Fordham Westchester and the Calder Center are closed on Tuesday, February 12. All daytime classes are cancelled for the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses. All faculty, staff, and administrators are excused for the day. (Facilities Management personnel should check with their supervisors for their assignments on Tuesday, February 12.)

The University will reopen the Lincoln Center and Rose Hill campuses for evening classes beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Fordham Westchester and the Calder Center will remain closed). Should evening classes be cancelled the campus community will be notified by email no later than 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
