This year’s lecture, “Passing on Religious Traditions: Today’s Challenges for Jews and Catholics from Secularism to Intermarriage,” was co-sponsored by the Archbishop Hughes Institute at Fordham and the Jewish Community Center. Steinfels, a University Professor at Fordham and religion columnist for The New York Times, is the author of A People Adrift: The Crisis of the Roman Catholic Church in America(Simon & Schuster, 2003). Rabbi Levithan, a conservative rabbi, was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and works extensively with interfaith couples and prospective converts, and is herself a convert to Judaism.
