Novelist, essayist and Fordham Law Professor Thane Rosenbaum will moderate the discussion between Yoo and Flaherty that will examine the way in which the war on terrorism has raised unique legal questions that challenge ethical, moral and political norms that exist in the international community.

From 2001-03, Yoo served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked on issues involving foreign affairs, national security, and the separation of powers. He served as general counsel of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee from 1995-96, where he advised on constitutional issues and judicial nominations.

Martin Flaherty is a professor at Fordham Law School and co-director of the Crowley Program in International Human Rights. He is also the chairman of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on International Human Rights .

Fordham to Screen Documentary on Child Labor https://now.fordham.edu/university-news/fordham-to-screen-documentary-on-child-labor/ Fri, 03 Dec 2004 20:55:21 +0000 http://news.fordham.sitecare.pro/?p=36500 NEW YORK—Fordham University will host a New York City benefit screening of Stolen Childhoods, a feature-length documentary by Robin Romano that exposes the global problem of child labor, on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the McNally Amphitheatre at the Fordham School of Law, 140 W. 62nd St., on the Lincoln Center campus. Admission is $12. All proceeds will benefit child-relief organizations.

The documentary, which is narrated by Academy-award winning actor Meryl Streep, profiles child laborers in seven different countries, and the groundbreaking efforts of relief organizations to provide these children with education to help them break their cycle of poverty. There are 246 million child laborers worldwide. This film puts into context the causes and ramifications of child labor and provides examples of successful programs that move children from work to school.
